About Us

CAGE Gymnastics has been operating under our current name and ownership since 2001.  The facility itself has been serving Topeka since 1987!  We are here because we love the sport, we love the athletes and we couldn't be more happy to pass on our knowledge and passion to the next generation of future coaches:)

What drives us
Our staff encourage basic principles that go beyond physical activity and training in the gym to help create a healthy mental attitude, in addition to a healthy body.

Owner - Triny Tolbert

Triny has been involved with CAGE since 1999.  Her background as a competitive gymnast and dancer instilled a love for the sport and the athletes making it an easy decision to move from a coaching position in Olathe to managing and then owning CAGE Gymnastics.  Triny is particularly interested in the mental training aspect of coaching and enjoys the challenge of working through goal setting, facing fears and confidence building with her athletes.  Her favorite event to coach is balance beam followed closely by uneven bars.  She and her husband, Marc, live south of Topeka with their 4 dogs, 2 cats and horses!

Cheer Program Director - Coach Heath

Coach Heath came back to Kansas and joined CAGE/TNT staff in May of 2007 after spending 8 years in St. Louis. He worked with NCA for 6 summers while in college and in STL. He was hired to coach for Spirit Elite and Olympiad Gymnastics after spending 5 years in Hays, four of them cheering at FHSU. After coaching at SEA/OG for 2 ½ years, Coach Heath spent a season coaching at Saint Louis University. He then worked directly with Paul Battaglia (University of New Mexico gymnast) at World Class Gymnastics for 2 ½ years and then HI NRG Gymnastix for another 2 ½ years as well as teaching acrobatics at The Saint Louis Dancers Academy for 3 of those years. Coach Heath recently spent a year in the high school realm with the Seaman Vikings.

Coach Heath is AACCA Safety Certified and has coached at the youth, all-star, high school, and collegiate level. As well as being the Cheerleading Director here at CAGE and TNT, Coach Heath also teaches many different gymnastics classes including Boys Only classes, Super Tot classes, and every level in between.

Coach Heath believes in the incredible potential of every child and hopes to help them achieve their own athletic goals. He doesn’t believe in the words “I can’t.” and will not let that keep his students from achieving success. Coach Heath truly enjoys working with kids and finds it not only fun but very rewarding.

Gymnastics Program Director,                                      Team Coach - Michele Martin

As a competitive gymnast, Michele became involved with the sport at a young age.   She started coaching recreational and competitive gymnastics as a freshman in college and has now been doing it for seven years.  She has been a member of the CAGE family since 2006 when she moved to Topeka after graduating from Fort Hays State with a degree in Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in Health Promotion and Wellness.  She knew she wanted to continue in the sport after graduating, so accepting the position as the Assistant Program Director and beginning to help Triny manage the business while still being able to coach was the perfect path.  Along with having a love for the sport of gymnastics she also has a great passion for health and fitness.  She is a nationally certified personal trainer and runs the adult fitness classes at CAGE.

Dance Program Director, Monika Ivy

Monika Ivy grew up in the Kansas City area practicing competitive gymnastics at Eagles Gymnastics and Dance Centre, and then at Great American Gymnastics Express.  She also studied Ballet, Jazz, and Modern Dance at City In Motion and at Midtown School of Dance.  She was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad at Shawnee Mission East High School.  Monika graduated from the University of Kansas in 2008 with a BA in Dance.  As a member of the  University Dance Company, she was in numerous performances at the Lied Center, and worked with professional choreographers such as Patrick Suzeau, Wally Cardona, and Bill Evans.  Currently, Monika and her husband Tim, an architect, reside in Lawrence, KS with their 2 dogs and 2 cats.  Monika is very excited to be part of the CAGE and TNT staff!  She is looking forward to teaching and watching her students grow!
